Never Lie To Someone Who Trusts You
Never Lie To Someone Who Trusts You
Yes, being honest isn’t necessarily always the easiest thing to do in this life. Sometimes, being honest means having to put yourself in a position of compromise or vulnerability. And at other times, being honest means having to hurt the person you love most in the world with the truth. You are tempted to think that you can lie yourself out of a sticky situation. You might want to lie to save yourself from embarrassment, from awkwardness, or from any kind of trouble whatsoever. But here’s the thing: honesty is the only policy that you need to follow when it comes to true love. Yes, it can be very tempting to tell a little white lie every now and then. It’s always so nerve-wracking especially when you know that the doors of deceit are still open. However, you’re going to need to fight that urge. You’re going to need to turn yourself away from all of those temptations. You need to be strong enough to admit both to yourself and to the person you love that you are imperfect. You need to be able to own up to the many sins and wrong-doings that you are personally guilty of. And you need to be brave enough to try to earn this person’s forgiveness. After all, at the end of the day, all of us are going to be prone to making mistakes here and there. And we can feel guilty about a lot of the things that we do. But you have to know that the ONLY way that you can absolve yourself of that guilt is if you come clean about it.Sure, you can make a mistake every now and then. No one in this world expects you to be perfect. And when you make a mistake, it’s something that you feel remorseful about. You are filled with an immense amount of regret about how things have turned out; about the wrong decisions that you’ve made. And that’s okay. Your partner is eventually going to be able to understand that about you. Mistakes are part of the game. However, lying is always going to be unacceptable. While a mistake is something that you can commit just once and eventually learn from; lying is a conscious choice that you are making every single time you partake in it. Whenever you lie to your partner, you are deliberately doing something that you know is going to hurt your partner and harm your relationship as a whole. When you lie, you are engaging in a selfish act. You aren’t thinking about your partner’s personal desires, feelings, and thought processes. When you engage in a lie, you are essentially spitting in the face of your partner’s trust for you. You are engaging in a blatant act of betrayal. And you are also disrespecting your partner by deeming them unworthy of the truth that you are deliberately withholding from them.A lie is just a way for you to sweep your guilt under the rug, but you have to know that that guilt isn’t really going to go anywhere. In fact, when you lie, you are just going to keep adding on to your guilt. When you lie, you are essentially trying to get out of the work that you need to do to make the necessary reparations in your relationship. When you lie, you are essentially saying that your relationship isn’t worth coming clean for; that it isn’t a relationship that is actually worth fighting for. You are trying to take the easy way out because you’re not really ready to fight for the relationship in the right way.Trust is always going to be a very important aspect of any relationship. In fact, love goes hand in hand with trust. Because you can never really learn to love someone unless you are able to trust them. And if you break your partner’s trust towards you, then you are effectively breaking off that love as well. You are only putting more and more walls up between yourself and the person you love with every single lie you make. And on your part, you also have to protect yourself from lies. You never want to be giving your love and trust to someone who is only going to betray you. You never want to be made a fool out of in your own relationship. You only want to be in an intimate relationship with someone you trust and someone who trusts you in return. At the end of the day, mutual trust is always an important ingredient in crafting a strong and healthy relationship. And if you fail to trust one another, you are building your relationship on a faulty foundation; and that love is eventually going to come crashing down on you.
